QUEEN'S PARK — Marit Stiles, Leader of Ontario's Official Opposition NDP, and Shadow Minister for Finance and Treasury Board Jessica Bell (University—Rosedale) are focusing on the Ontario workers that are falling through the cracks, after the Ford government failed to bring affordability solutions with their 2026 Fall Economic Statement:
"This Fall Economic Statement is an admission of failure," said Stiles.
"Costs keep going up for the people of Ontario, and this incompetent government is only making it worse. We're facing dueling crises of affordability and a trade war, while Doug Ford continues to party on the taxpayer dime and deliver nothing for the people of Ontario.
" At every turn, this government has sold out the people of Ontario. Selling them out to waste taxpayer dollars on five-star hotels, selling them out with growing deficits and cutting services, selling them out with handshake deals with lobbyists and developers."
"Never has a government spent so much while delivering so little," said Bell. "The people of Ontario are no longer buying what Doug Ford and Minister Bethlenfalvy are selling them. Their platitudes ring hollow when they're telling hard-working Ontarians to tighten their belts while living in luxury on the taxpayer dime.
"Our deficit is ballooning, Ontario is losing thousands of good jobs, and we're no longer in the business of building affordable homes. The Ford government has no answers: just sweetheart deals for their insiders and pats on the back for themselves."
"The only people getting ahead in Doug Ford's Ontario are his friends and insiders," added Stiles. "Ontario New Democrats will keep bringing forward common sense solutions that put money back in people's pockets, end the health care wait times, and build the homes people can afford."
