OTTAWA – Following the release of the 2026 EQAO results, Shadow Minister for Education, Chandra Pasma, released the following statement:
"The EQAO results are deeply concerning," said Pasma. "This should come as no surprise, because the Minister of Education spent the past year neglecting students and focusing on political crusades. He ignored the warnings of teachers and parents, playing political games with Ontario schools instead of properly funding them.
"Our kids are struggling, thanks to eight years of cuts from this government. These results are a direct consequence of a government that has refused to listen to parents, teachers, and education workers.
"The Minister's power grab was never going to fix the real problems in our classrooms. Students with special education needs are left behind, with just 25 per cent meeting the Grade 6 math standard.
"We are also seeing vulnerable students struggling to catch up, with success rates falling for special education and ELL students retaking the literacy test.
"EQAO results are not a reflection of our students. They are a reflection on this Minister of Education's failure to provide students with what they need to succeed."
